shalom health and safety plan

Shalom Christian Academy's mission is to Develop Lives of Consequence In the World for the Kingdom of God. We firmly believe the best way to do this is through in person instruction on our campus. The health of our students and staff is our top priority, and we intend to bring our students safely back to campus this fall.

Overview

Members of Shalom's Planning Task Force have attended webinars, video conference calls, read articles, and listened to podcasts related to reopening schools. Using these resources along with input from public officials, other school leaders, and survey data from Shalom parents, we have adopted components from many models to create a plan that best fits Shalom Christian Academy for 2020-2021 school year.

Here are the highlights of the plan:

►  Students will learn in the building on a regular schedule. Students will only be doing distance learning as needed.

►  Shalom Christian Academy students are expected to attend classes unless schools are closed by the state. Accommodations may be made for a limited amount of time in special circumstances. If you have questions concerning this policy, please email apetersheim@shalomca.com

►  Parents are responsible to be aware of their child’s health. If your child’s temperature is higher than 100.3, he/she is required to stay at home.

►  According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms reported – from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. If you suspect your child may have COVID-19, please have them see a medical professional. People with the following symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
