Physics

The study of physics shows the basic simplicity of the laws of nature as designed by God. Because of our belief in God, we can attribute the beauty and orderliness of nature to an awesome Creator rather than to chance. We note that God continues to govern and maintain the universe in which we live.

Physics is the science that studies the nature of matter, energy, and their relationships. The text employs the highly effective problem solving method of teaching physics. During the course of the year, students find many applications for the math that they have learned. Practical applications of physics include driving, hunting, photography, music, and athletics.

Chemistry

As Christians, we believe that the physical universe is a clear testimony to the omnipotence of God. In the study of chemistry, we will see several of God's additional attributes, such as His orderliness and logic in the study of the periodic table and in the structure of crystals. His concern for detail is evident in the construction of the atom. Natural laws reveal His sovereignty, and the intricate structure of a molecule demonstrates His creativity. A careful study of science will enhance our appreciation of its Author. In addition, we need to study chemistry to develop our minds so God can use us more effectively in His service. As we study chemistry, we will view the models of origins from a creationist's viewpoint and analyze information in the light of God's principles.

Proficiency in a basic chemistry course is a stepping-stone to success in college chemistry and biology courses. Also, knowledge of chemical principles is recommended or required for a career as a photographer, architect, farmer, cosmetologist, nurse, doctor, dental hygienist, meteorologist, pharmacist, or X-ray technician. Additionally, housewives, mechanics, and businessmen deal with choices that can best be made with knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry. One such choice involves the foods we eat to maintain a healthy body. Indeed, we all need an understanding of chemistry to become knowledgeable consumers in today's marketplace.

Physical Science

Physical science is for curious students. We, as Christians, have a particular reason for being curious about the world around us - the physical universe reveals the power and majesty of God. In our studies, we will see the Creator in His creation. Patterns in nature show the orderliness of God. It is only by His power that the universe is governed and maintained.

This course gives ninth graders a general introduction to chemistry and physics. Studies in chemistry compliment various areas of biology, math, and photography. Physics principles are related to math, music, photography, and athletics. Although not all students are naturally attracted to science, this course will be of lasting benefit to all who give it their best.

Geometry

Proficiency in geometry is a stepping-stone to success in higher-level mathematics and science courses.  Geometry is beautifully logical, and it teaches you how to think and prove things using a step-by-step process.  Proofs are excellent lessons in reasoning and logic.  Although we do not think about it, we use the process involved in mathematical proofs every day.  Also, knowledge of geometry is vital for those students pursuing a career in architecture, science, or the visual arts.

Algebra 1

The orderliness of God is revealed in the study of mathematics.  If God numbers the hairs of our heads and the sparrows that fall, then mathematics and mathematical concepts are important to Him.  Also, we note that the majority of the laws of nature are quantitative, so an understanding of mathematics is essential for every student.
