Welcome to 

Middle School Math

          A little bit about me:

• My family and I moved to this area about two years ago form South Carolina. 

• This is my second year teaching at Shalom.

• Teaching experience: 2000 - 2005 Middle & High school math teacher at Richard Winn Academy in Winnsboro, SC.

• Education: BS in Business Administration form the University of South Carolina

• My favorite aspect of teaching is seeing a student get excited about learning when they finally understand a concept
  
  
  
• Favorite activities: spending time with my family , spending time on the beach, reading, and gardening.

The school uses Saxon Math with Biblical integration in the upper elementary and higher grade levels. This gives consistency and familiarity with a Christian perspective. Saxon Math uses the "review and building blocks concept" in its lessons. It is organized in "units" of time, where a unit is the instructional time between chapter tests. For.example, a three week time period may be considered a " unit" to complete ten lessons,  quizzes, and a test. Math instruction using the Saxon Math curriculum in conjunction with manipulative, supplemental practice, and practice worksheets has proved to be very successful in the learning of mathematics.
