General Objectives

Music Theory is the study of the elements of musical composition. In this course you will develop note reading and composition skills and gain an understanding of chord structures. This course is designed to prepare the serious musician for college level music studies.

Music Theory I meets two times per week, 50 minutes per day. Course content will include:

Ear Training

Music Terminology

Chordal Analysis and Structure

Major/Minor Scales and Key Signatures

Arrangement

Original Composition

Expectations

Students will be prepared for each class: homework, materials, punctual & well-studied.

There will be a test given at the end of each unit.

Quizzes on lessons will be given as decided.

Students will show Godly love and respect to their teacher and fellow students.

Students are expected to attend every class and show a positive attitude by participating in the activities of the day.
