I teach 7th and 8th grade language arts and reading. I also teach high school drama which culminates in an annual production. We do four peformances, two as a dinner theater and two for general audiences.
I love teaching literature. I tell my students that this is one way we can connect vicariously with different situations and people in the world. I enjoy change and trying new activities in class. I love doing drama more than anything. In drama, my students work all year to prepare for our dinner theater. They are involved in every aspect including costumes and sets. I aim to show and teach a Biblical perspective about anything we read or act.
This is my 12th year teaching at Shalom Christian Academy. I have two daughters, Amy and Christina, who are Shalom graduates. Both of my girls are married and each has her own baby girl. My grandchildren, Clara and Hannah, are two years and one year old resepctively. I get two live my own children all over again! My husband is a pastor, writer, teacher. Two bright spots in my life are my puppies, Annie, a mutt and Rosita, a chihuahua.
I like playing my flute when I get a chance. I also enjoy sewing and reading. I'm glad I get to incorporate these abilities in my drama. I like to swim also---it's good exercise and I don't have to sweat.
